How do I Assess my Spiritual Vision?
March 27, 2018According to a 2017 study by Lifeway Research, about half (53%) of the 1,000 American’s surveyed have read none, or very little, of the Bible. Bible IQ notes the Lifeway research results are consistent with other Biblical research. By all measures, this translates to a crisis – a biblical illiteracy crisis!

Bible IQ believes it is reasonable to assume that the 53% group (i.e., who have never read, or read very little, of the Bible) are either spiritually blind (i.e., do not know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord & Savior) and/or are biblical illiterate (i.e., lack understanding of core Bible truths and doctrine). To gain a broader perspective of these findings, Bible IQ extrapolated the Lifeway® survey results. Specifically, we extrapolated the 53% finding to: 1) America’s total population, and 2) the World’s total population. The end result was a projection from the two populations of the total number of people who are potentially spiritually blind and/or biblical illiterate. The results were sobering. See below:

We acknowledge the above calculation is highly simplistic. However, our objective is to illustrate that the numbers are enormous… even with some statistical hair-cut. And to make matters worse, we believe the above estimates are conservative. In other words, studies consistently reveal that even people who have read most, or all, of the Bible still fail to understand and are unable to recite core biblical truths (key messages and doctrine of the Bible). In summary, we are living in a spiritual crisis.
Bible IQ’s mission is to help combat this worldwide crisis in some small way!
