WHO are the Bible Bowl "Sponsors"?
[NOTE: The above reflect the 2019 Bible Bowl Sponsors! We will update the 2020 Sponsors in due course.]
HOW does the Competition work? The "Bible Bowl" competition has alternating rounds of the contestants individually answering a "Bible Trivia" question and then reciting a "Bible Verse". Each contestant will have 10 seconds to answer the "Bible Trivia" question, and each contestant will have 10 seconds to begin reciting the "Bible Verse".
Scoring will consist of the following:
"Bible Trivia" Questions:
Each correct answer will be awarded 2 points.
"Bible Verse" Recitations:
Bible verse recitation will be awarded up to 3 points as follows:
- 3 points for each verse that is recited with 0-1 mistakes (e.g., miss a word, out of sequence, etc.),
- 2 points for each verse that is recited with 2-3 mistakes (e.g., miss a word, out of sequence, etc.), and
- 1 point for each verse that the contestant recites the "gist" of it (i.e., the main idea).
After 10 rounds (i.e., 5 rounds of Bible Trivia + 5 rounds of Bible Verses), only the 10 contestants with the highest accumulated points will remain competing. After 5 additional rounds (the "Playoff Round"), the winners will be determined based on the contestants total accumulated points (i.e., 1st place through 10th place). If two or more contestants are tied a lightening round "play-off" will be played to determine final winners. NOTE: The "Beginners" age division will not participate in an actual competition, rather they will individually recite the "Top 10" designated Bible Verses to earn individual trophies and prizes! The Beginners will be judged on their ability to recite the "gist" of each Bible verse (i.e., the main idea), as opposed to knowing every single word.
